Bode Museum Berlin

The Bode Museum on Berlin's Museum Island, originally designed between 1897 and 1904 in Wilhelminian baroque style by Ernst von Ihle, is currently undergoing restoration in the context of a general repair and refurbishing project. The building suffered considerable damage during the Second World War. The entire basement storey has now been completely reinstated, and its rooms are already being used again by the repository and workshops of the museum's sculpture collection. Construction work is scheduled for completion in late 2005, reopening of the Bode Museum for 2006. The sculpture collection, a range of paintings, other selected works, and examples of Byzantine art will then again be available for public viewing here.
