Station Berlin Papestraße

German rail operator Deutsch Bahn AG recently held a two phase pan EU competition for the construction of a new station between the city districts Schöneberg and Tempelhof in the south of Berlin for implementation of the "mushroom concept". This competition required submission of innovative and rationally priced solution proposals for design of the main station hall, entrance halls, multi storey car park facades and design of the station forecourts, including access to the car parks. The basis for the draft solutions was the approved plan for the project "Bahnhof Berlin-Papestraße", the binding specifications of which had to be strictly adhered to, for legal, design and scheduling reasons. The competition winner's design proposal was checked for adherence to the boundary conditions set by DB AG.
