Sony-Center Potsdamer Platz Berlin

An urban ensemble full of life, featuring seven buildings, has arisen on Potsdamer Platz, in central Berlin, in the form of the new Sony Center. The around 26,000 m² large site is located between the two traditional centres of the Kurfürstendamm and Friedrichstrasse, in an exceptionally interesting urban environment, and has provided space for a combination of work, residence and entertainment since January, 2000. The complex's central focus is a 4,000 m² covered forum. Lined with restaurants, cafés, shops and entertainment facilities, this outstandingly lit public area provides space for cultural events and encounters. Office and residential zones with a total area of more than 100,000 m² are distributed around the striking triangular area between Potsdamer Strasse and Bellevuestrasse. All seven of the Sony Center's buildings feature impressive futuristic architecture in a synthesis of steel and glass elements.
